About Mimi and Her Shop
Mimi's Flowers and Gifts has been operating in its current form since 1995, starting with silk flowers, chinese furniture, handmade jewelry and more. But many long time residents of Orlando might remember a little chinese restaurant by the name of Jimmy and Mimi's Tea Garden. 1979 was the start of Mimi's 30+ year history as a Casselberry resident and small business owner. But after 15 years, it became impossible to run Jimmy and Mimi's Tea Garden Restaurant without Jimmy whose declining health required Mimi's full attention. Several years passed and others couldn't duplicate the success Jimmy and Mimi had, so Mimi decided she was going to open it up again herself. This time around, instead of slinging Beef Fried Rice and Egg Foo Young, she decided that she would trying something a little less messy and a little more creative. After a slow start in the jewelry and silk flower business, Mimi decided one blustery February 14th to sell fresh flowers on the side of the road. That first year, sales were modest and the learning curve steep but Mimi persevered and became a self taught florist. She learned everything there was to know about arranging fresh flowers on her own, from making corsages to wedding flowers and more.
On a daily basis Mimi runs the shop with one person answering the phone and herself and one other designer creating the arrangements, but during the holidays, she and a group of former restaurant employees, neighbors, friends and family come together , working around the clock to make each holiday special for every person who orders flowers from Mimi's Flowers and Gifts. Our flowers are super fresh, ordered directly from growers around the world. We receive flowers on a daily basis so you can be sure that your floral gift, with proper care, will be a long lasting one.
In her spare time, which is infrequent, Mimi enjoys spending time with her many pets, most of whom were rescued from various places. She also spends time collecting school supplies, toys and more for area charity events.

Having pets and animal rescue has become an important part of Mimi's life. Each of these animals is a part of her family. We strongly urge citizens to spay and neuter their pets and consider rescuing a pet from your local shelter. Mimi is willing to offer to discounts on flowers for pet food and supplies brought to our store.
